A visit with Elena Eidelberg!

I love her work so much! Her business is called Four Corners Tiles. She was SO nice and relaxed with the kids... they made tiles using the patterns on the soles of shoes. We also loved her beautiful screened-in studio. One of our best field trips yet!




















And yes you do probably recognize her from Eric Billig's concrete casting class.... check out these awesome concrete vases she made:

I love this! What a good idea to take impressions of their shoes (and feet!). Next time we make clay patterns, I'll have this in mind for sure! Wouldn't a whole series of shoe tiles be cool in a backyard or kitchen backsplash? Now you've got me thinking...
